Many of the most powerful European waterfalls lies in Iceland. Here, tumble the mighty Goðafoss.
According to the Norse legends, in 1000AD a mighty viking chieftain threw his pagan idols in the waterfall after it was decided that Christianity would become the official religion of the country. Hence the name of the place: "Waterfall of the gods".
